Summary:
The Vice President of Operational Strategy and Excellence is a strategic leader responsible for implementing corporate strategy into actionable business plans that drive enterprise transformation and excellence. This role requires a deep understanding of business consulting, data-driven decision making, and change management to lead cross functional initiatives that align with DFIN's corporate vision. Reporting to the SVP of Operational Strategy and Global Supply Chain, this leader oversees a high-performing team of engagement managers, process improvement specialists, and data analysts to deliver measurable outcomes and sustained innovation.
This position is responsible for leading enterprise initiatives that enhance the client experience, improve efficiency, support data-driven decision-making, and ensure that all initiatives align with corporate data security and governance priorities. The VP of Operational Strategy and Excellence collaborates closely with DFIN executive leadership on corporate initiatives to design and implement strategic objectives, operationalize innovative solutions, and foster a culture of operational excellence. The driver of success for this role is defined by the ability to implement agreed upon strategies across DFIN with quantified performance metrics.
Ideal candidates will bring a blend of consulting expertise, thought leadership, change management skills, and hands-on implementation experience. This role is particularly well suited for individuals with a background in business consulting and a proven ability to lead transformation in complex environments.
Responsibilities:
• Drive enterprise transformation initiatives that enhance business agility and position DFIN for sustained competitive advantage by identifying future-state opportunities and key priorities, designing actionable plans, and leading cross-functional execution to ensure alignment, accountability, and measurable outcomes • Establish a portfolio of high-impact strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals, clear ownership, and trackable success indicators • Oversee the end-to-end execution of operational solutions, utilizing a consultative, agile approach- incorporating real-time feedback and iterative enhancements • Foster a forward-thinking business environment by embedding strategic thinking and data-driven decision making, empowering teams to align actions with enterprise goals and deliver impactful, insight-led results • Partner with executive and business unit leaders to deliver data-informed insights and strategic recommendations that shape business priorities, guide enterprise strategy, and drive informed, analytics-driven business decisions • Drive organizational alignment and stakeholder engagement by ensuring projects are clearly communicated, embraced, and executed across all levels of the organization • Lead transformation and change management efforts that foster adoption, resilience, and sustained innovation • Leverage data-driven insights to identify trend patterns, gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for refinement, supporting more informed and proactive decision-making • Promote value-based project assessment to ensure that initiatives are aligned with the most critical business needs and deliver maximum ROI • Create enterprise dashboards and KPIs to track strategic initiative progress, performance, and the overall impact of improvement efforts with establish success criteria • Lead and develop a high-performance team, cultivating a center of excellence that drives innovation, collaboration, and results • Build and institutionalize top-tier methodologies, playbooks, and repeatable approaches to drive scalable and sustainable success
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required in Business, Economics, Finance or related field (MBA preferred) • 5+ years in a leading consulting firm (e.g., McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Deloitte, EY Parthenon, KPMG Advisory, Accenture, PWC, Alix Partners), with a focus on operational improvement, strategy, or business transformation; minimum 2 years as an Engagement Manager, Project Leader, or equivalent • Proven ability to implement actionable business plans with a strong track record of success of leading enterprise-level projects from concept to execution • Skilled at integrating data analytics with creative problem-solving to assess current state and future-state solutions • Strong progressive strategic thinking, business and financial acumen, and intellectual curiosity with a focus on long term vision • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to drive enterprise alignment and lead through complexity and change • Executive presence and credibility, with a track record of advising and engaging executive leaders • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Deep understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement frameworks • Strong project management experience, including leading cross-functional initiatives from concept to execution • Demonstrated ability to drive transformation and be a change agent within the organization • Passion for team development, mentorship, and talent cultivation
