The Software Architect is a senior-level technology professional that is responsible for contributing to the architecture and design of multiple systems across the organization specifically focused on integrations between RapidScale core systems and Cox systems. The candidate should have deep software development, system and design expertise, an understanding of enterprise architecture, and strong written and verbal communication skills. The candidate will report to the VP of Software Engineering and work with our Principal Software Architect. The candidate will be concerned with problems that have a direct and important effect on business programs and results. Routinely called upon to apply and demonstrate mastery of existing and emerging technologies, practices, and processes. May direct major integration projects or programs with significant business impact within department or functional area. Displays a high level of critical thinking and analysis in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or within department problems. Makes prompt, sound decisions when faced with complex and often contradictory alternatives that result in successful outcomes.

The Software Architect will play a strategic role in guiding engineering teams toward next-generation architecture and engineering capabilities, including but not limited to:• Building integrations between existing enterprise systems• Extending our API models• Building Cloud Native applications leveraging Azure services• Leveraging continuous integration and delivery tools• Applying a Services or API First approach to building applications• Using event-based or messaging-based architectures• Delivering multi-tenant applications• Implement proof of concepts, frameworks or libraries• Ability to remove technical obstacle

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Duties: • Work in partnership with other divisional technical architects to define and implement integration opportunities• Provide technical leadership for developing and maintaining integration systems and applications.• Develop and maintain "as is" and "to be" system architecture documentation including infrastructure architecture, application and security architecture, integration architecture, and the underlying enterprise data architecture / data dictionary.• Work with development teams to establish and enforce best practices for software quality across the organization.• Work with project managers and development teams to define and improve the software development methodology and processes for the organization. • Support operations and development teams by providing advanced technical analysis, troubleshooting and debugging as needed.• Ensure the demands of the applications are supported at the OS, network, and data storage levels.• Research, evaluate, and recommend new/alternative technology solutions based on the latest technology trends, application capabilities, and best practices.• Drive creation of reference architectures, reference implementations, and proofs-of-concept.• Perform reviews of development artifacts including code, designs, and documentation.• Assist developers with complex technical challenges and mentor employees in software development best practices.

Compensation:

  • Compensation includes a base salary of $112,400 - 143,300. Salary may vary outside of the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's experience.
  • Position is eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or and incentive program.

Qualifications:

(Reasonable accommodations for medical and religious objections will be considered.)• 8+ years of experience in full development life cycle and significant experience in delivering applications and architecture services in a production environment.• 5+ years of experience in the implementation of structured design and architecture processes in a corporate environment.• Experience developing and implementing technical and system architecture plans. • Knowledge and experience in systems modeling and design, software modeling and design, software development and architecture methodologies.• Experience with cloud-native architectures or compatible architecture patterns.• Experience in relational database technologies and familiarity with DB design. • Experience in developing and architecting scalable service-oriented solutions. • Demonstrated proficiency in at least three of the following areas: business architecture, application architecture, data architecture, technical/infrastructure architecture, security disciplines, or operational disciplines. • Solid understanding of transaction and information systems, message brokers and enterprise integration patterns. • Strong knowledge of enterprise class software requirements including security, scalability, and usability.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.• Experience working in all aspects of SDLC management, and experience with formal methodologies such as Agile.• Strong working knowledge of modern software development languages.• Experience assessing architecture risk and trade-offs with limited information.• Ability to cope with uncertainty and loosely/under-defined requirements.
