We are seeking a Metering & Energy Solutions Lead to support the implementation and delivery of metering, utility, and energy-management solutions for enterprise real estate clients.

The role requires deep experience with utility meters, submeters, interval data, meter hierarchies, tenant billing, and portfolio-scale metering infrastructure. The successful candidate will work directly with clients to configure meter relationships, validate data, identify metering issues, support allocation methodologies, and translate operational requirements into scalable software workflows.

This position will also work closely with product, engineering, data, implementation, and customer success teams to improve platform functionality based on real-world client deployments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the configuration and validation of utility meters, submeters, virtual meters, parent-child meter relationships, and portfolio metering hierarchies.

  • Support client onboarding, data mapping, system configuration, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization.

  • Analyze interval and submeter data to identify gaps, duplicate readings, flatlines, spikes, negative values, synchronization issues, unit inconsistencies, and other anomalies.

  • Reconcile utility meters with submeters and evaluate whether downstream consumption aligns with whole-building usage.

  • Support tenant billing and utility allocation workflows, including direct metering, submetering, proportional allocation, RUBS, fixed allocation, and virtual-meter calculations.

  • Review meter installations, configurations, communication pathways, data collection processes, and system dependencies.

  • Work with clients and internal teams to diagnose issues across meters, gateways, data platforms, integrations, and analytical outputs.

  • Translate metering, billing, and operational requirements into software configurations, calculation logic, workflows, and product requirements.

  • Develop clear reporting and insights related to meter performance, consumption, demand, data quality, tenant usage, and building-level energy performance.

  • Provide implementation feedback and recommendations to product and engineering teams to improve meter management, validation, allocation, and analytics capabilities.

  • Create reusable standards, configuration guidance, validation rules, and implementation methodologies for portfolio-scale deployments.

Requirements
  • Significant experience with utility meters, submeters, interval data, or advanced metering infrastructure.

  • Strong understanding of meter hierarchies, parent-child relationships, virtual meters, aggregation, allocation, and whole-building reconciliation.

  • Experience configuring or managing tenant billing, utility allocation, or cost-recovery processes.

  • Experience analyzing large networks of submeters and identifying data-quality, connectivity, configuration, and performance issues.

  • Working knowledge of meter installation, commissioning, communications, gateways, data acquisition, and backend platform configuration.

  • Ability to analyze interval data and distinguish between operational anomalies, metering errors, and legitimate changes in building usage.

  • Experience supporting software implementation, client delivery, technical consulting, or managed services.

  • Ability to translate complex metering requirements into clear system configurations and product recommendations.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, client communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with electric, natural gas, water, thermal, and other building utility meters.

  • Familiarity with common metering protocols, gateways, APIs, and data-acquisition platforms.

  • Experience with tenant billing systems, utility bill management platforms, energy-management software, or building-management systems.

  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or comparable analytical tools.

  • Knowledge of demand, load profiles, baseload, peak usage, energy intensity, and building-performance analytics.

  • Experience delivering solutions across commercial real estate, multifamily, retail, industrial, or mixed-use portfolios.
