The Silicon Computing Development Organization is seeking passionate, driven and intellectually curious engineers to join our pre-silicon hardware design team. Our team is involved in numerous projects within Microsoft developing custom silicon for a diverse set of systems. We are responsible for delivering cutting-edge IP designs that can perform complex and high-performance functions in the most efficient manner. In this high impact role on the team, you will:

  • Participate in the design of one or more areas of custom memory controller IPs (DDR5/LPDDR5 and future generations), DDR PHY, and/or memory subsystems
  • Develop high performance, high speed digital designs
  • Synthesize and close timing on your designs
  • Become an expert on the overall IP architecture, implementation of complex features/flows/protocols, and their interactions with SOCs and other IPs
  • Apply your knowledge of logic design principles and techniques and use your judgement to implement high performance, high efficiency memory controllers
  • Work closely with architects, other logic designers, and verification teams
  • Apply your growth mindset to learn and adapt in a complex and dynamic environment
  • Delight your customers by providing high quality results on schedule
  • Work with your teams in an environment of respect and integrity
  • Apply your expertise towards post-silicon bring-up plans, tests, and debug of your area

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical, Computer, Engineering, Computer Science or a related degree.
  • 3 + years of pre-silicon SOC or IP logic design experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DDR Memory Controllers and/or design of complex, high-speed systems
  • Experience with Verilog, System Verilog, VHDL, Synopsys, Spyglass , Verdi
  • Experience with synthesis and timing tools with an emphasis on the logic and micro-architecture skills required to close timing
  • Knowledge of RAS, ECC, CRC, DFT
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams
  • Proficient communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills and ability to contribute to diverse and inclusive teams
  • Aptitude for writing scripts/software with industry standard languages like Python
