As the VP of Engineering & Data Science for Triple within numo's organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Job Description

Core Role Responsibilities

Lead engineering team of 12 full time engineers - will roughly double over the next year.

  • Deliver a world class software platform that processes tens and hundreds of millions of transactions per day and millions of API requests per day.
  • Work collaboratively with the head of product to translate business priorities & technical specs into deliverable technical work.
  • Set technical roadmap for Triple platform and make key platform technical architecture decisions in conjunction with the enterprise architect.
  • Recruit & retain great engineers.
  • Manage the core engineering machine - from typical agile planning and management functions to process tweaks & productivity tool improvements
  • Interface regularly with sales and customer deployment leads to ensure a solid understanding of how the platform is performing in the market.
  • Determine right mix of in house and outsourced talent & manage 3rd party contractor engineers as needed.

Technical Needs

  • Expertise in high availability, large scale cloud-based enterprise software platforms
  • Deep knowledge of the AWS suite of tools & services
  • Expertise in Knowledge Graphs and related ML and AI technologies
  • Manage development of Triple front end (React), and API platform (https://docs.tripleup.dev/)

Helpful Previous Experience

  • Proven ability to take enterprise software platforms from small to large scale
  • Previous experience managing systems involving large scale financial transactions
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain a high performing engineering team
  • Experience in the ad tech world including DSPs and SSPs is a plus
  • Battle scars from delivering high stakes, high availability enterprise software platforms
  • Motivated by working in a dynamic, highly collaborative, high-growth startup environment

Application Development (Client/Server) – Knowledge of the methodologies and protocols for client/server applications and ability to develop and implement client/server applications.

Application Development (Object-Oriented) – Knowledge of the theories and methodologies related to object-oriented development, and ability to develop and implement object-oriented applications.

Application Localization and Internationalization – Knowledge of various tools, techniques and processes necessary to create world-ready applications, and ability to adapt them to different languages, regions, and cultures.

Application Maintenance – Knowledge of and ability to define, implement changes to, and support a production application.

Application Testing – Knowledge of application testing and ability to design, plan and execute application testing strategies and tactics to ensure software quality throughout all stages of application development.

Budgeting – Knowledge of, and ability to apply, policies and practices for planning and administering a budget.

IT Industry: Trends & Directions – Knowledge of and ability to analyze marketplace experiences, developments and trends related to the function of Information Technology (IT).

Software Process Improvement (SPI) – Knowledge of formal software process improvement disciplines, and ability to assess and improve the quality and operating costs associated with an existing application.

System Testing – Knowledge of and the ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree and higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications. Industry -relevant experience is typically 8+ years. At least 5 years of prior management experience is typically required. Proven leadership experience with a large scope of responsibility is required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
