The Product Creative team designs all the branded visuals and global styles that appear on Reddit including icons, illustrations, animations and many aspects of the user interface. We are looking for a Staff Product Designer with strong skills in visual branding in products, UX thinking and experience solving complex problems at scale to join the Product Creative team.

This hybrid visual/product designer position will be among the most brand- and visually-focused UX roles at Reddit. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for driving constant improvements to the look and feel across Reddit’s consumer apps and websites. You will create systems and patterns for other internal teams and designers to apply in their feature work with the goal of simplifying Reddit for all of our users. Our team is incredibly cross-functional and requires close collaboration with other designers across the UX organization as well as Content Designers, Software Engineers, UX Researchers and Brand/Marketing designers whose collective goal is to create a world-class visual brand for Reddit’s user interfaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on the design system, frameworks and patterns that define the Reddit brand on our platform while balancing designer needs with system complexity.
  • Improve UX globally by ensuring brand consistency across the consumer platform.
  • Envision the future visual evolution of Reddit and help plan the roadmap to get there.
  • Develop distinct visual sub-brands for special or seasonal experiences that still feel related to the core Reddit brand.
  • Drive consensus across diverse teams through effective exploration, communication, and presentation to design peers and senior leadership.
  • Lead design efforts from early concepting through final execution, focusing on both strategy and detailed craft.
  • Give constructive feedback in design reviews to push the quality and vision of the work.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years professional work experience between both product and visual design
  • 2+ years of recent experience working as a UI /Visual or Product Designer at a consumer tech company
  • A strong portfolio showcasing pixel-perfect UI design and motion, product design, systematic thinking and brand-related work including illustration, 3D, animation.
  • Experience shepherding a principles-driven design process through multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and storytelling skills that explain and advocate for design decisions clearly across teams.
  • Experience creating and delivering specs to engineers and an understanding of the practical application of a design or document when it comes to collaborating with technical teams
  • Keen understanding of post-production workflows.
  • Expertise in design software, including Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and optionally 3D tools such as Blender, Cinema 4D, or similar.
  • A passion for design systems, Reddit’s mission and pushing the boundaries of brand and product integration.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience building and enforcing design systems.
  • Experience working on a social or consumer platform with 9-digit userbase and global, multicultural reach.
  • Skill in concepting, creating, and iterating on 2D and 3D visual assets, illustrations, animations, and motion graphics that bring brands to life in unique and engaging ways.

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. The base pay range for this position is:
$194,600$272,400 USD
