Why You’ll Love This Job

You’ll play a key role on both our Business Development and Client Experience teams, focused on building strong relationships with Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) partners and their leadership to drive client retention and new growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and expand BOCES partnerships by becoming a trusted thought partner to district and BOCES leadership and guiding the contracting process.
  • Source new opportunities through cold drop-ins, re-visits, cold calls, and partnerships with various BOCES while supporting current districts in maximizing their use of our tools.
  • Partner with client districts to elevate communication efforts and identify opportunities to expand their partnership with Apptegy.
  • Visit existing New York clients to help the Customer Experience (CE) team build and maintain strong client relationships, prevent churn, and ensure in-person visits over the year.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on BOCES/RIC policies, advising internal teams and helping facilitate collaboration.
  • Join account executives on demos and assist in following up and closing deals with prospective clients.
  • Attend and present at BOCES and regional events to engage district leaders and set meetings for virtual demos.
  • Be a road warrior! Travel frequently across the state for drop-ins, conferences, and events—averaging 8–15 nights away per month and 20+ in-person visits to districts.

How is Success Measured

  • Initiate partnerships with BOCES that result in new sales meetings and closed/won opportunities for our products.
  • In-person visits to all New York clients over the course of a calendar year that result in closed/won opportunities and increased client retention rate.
  • Create deeper partnerships with BOCES that allow us more flexibility and create a win-win.

What Helps You Stand Out

  • Experience working with/within BOCES or other regional education service organizations.
  • Familiarity with New York public education systems and decision-making structures.
  • Background in K–12 communications, technology, client success, or edtech sales.
  • Demonstrated success building strategic partnerships or managing key accounts in a regional capacity.
  • Prior experience leading presentations or discussions with school or district leadership teams.

Who You Are

  • You have considerable experience working in or with K-12 School Districts.
  • A relationship builder who enjoys connecting with others and developing trust with stakeholders.
  • Highly self-motivated and organized with strong follow-through and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, field-based role with frequent travel.
  • Able to balance multiple priorities, manage long-term projects, and think strategically across teams.
  • Confident presenting and speaking in front of groups, including executive-level audiences.
  • Skilled at identifying opportunities, spotting inefficiencies, and proposing solutions.
  • Curious and driven to continuously improve client experiences and internal processes.
  • Flexible and willing to adapt as the needs of the team or region shift.
