Educational Requirements
Currently a candidate for master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering, Telecommunication, Physics or a related field with an accredited school in US.
What You Will Learn:
This internship provides an immersive learning experience in the dynamic field of optical telecommunications. You will gain practical, hands-on knowledge in:
- Performance Characterization: In-depth understanding and practical application of techniques for characterizing the performance of next-generation coherent linecards and pluggable optical modules.
- Test Plan Development & Execution: How to develop, implement, and execute comprehensive ODVT test plans, from initial concept to final reporting.
- Advanced Data Analysis: Techniques for analyzing complex test data, drawing meaningful conclusions, and translating findings into actionable insights for design improvements.
- Problem-Solving in a Technical Environment: Facing and resolving intricate technical challenges, developing advanced problem-solving skills critical for engineering roles.
- State-of-the-Art Technologies: Exposure to and understanding of state-of-the-art Digital Signal Processing (DSP), advanced optical front-end technologies, and the fundamental principles of transmission impairments in high-speed optical networks.
- Execute Optical Design Verification Test (ODVT) scripts with precision and attention to detail.
- Process, analyze, and interpret complex test data to identify and resolve design issues, working closely with senior engineers.
- Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of advanced ODVT test stations.
- Accurately document test procedures, results, and observations.
- Provide clear and concise reports on test status, findings, and progress to team leaders and management.
- Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as Python, Matlab, or VB.
- Familiarity with electrical and optical test equipment.
- Basic understanding of fiber optical communication systems and Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
Nice to have:
- Experience with version control systems like Git/Bitbucket.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
