As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the Store Edge Compute team, managing full-stack operations for device connectivity and overseeing architectural decisions for maintaining systems across all stores, thereby impacting operational efficiency.
The summary above was generated by AI

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

Every Starbucks store runs on a small data center hidden in the back: servers powering point of sale, kitchen displays, security cameras, and the operational systems that keep the store running - and someone  needs to own that platform across all locations. As an Engineering Manager on the Store Edge Compute team, you'll lead the engineers building and operating one of the largest edge computing footprints in retail. Your team will own the full stack from bare metal to Kubernetes, managing fleet-wide orchestration through tools like kubernetes, designing self-service deployment pipelines that let application teams ship without filing tickets, and keeping revenue-critical workloads like POS running even when the network goes down. This is a leadership role where you'll build and grow a high-performing team while making deeply technical architecture decisions about container orchestration, fleet management at massive scale, and infrastructure that must be offline-first - if the edge platform fails; the store can't ring up a single transaction. If you've ever wanted your platform decisions directly impact whether 16,000 locations can open for business tomorrow morning, this is the job.

As a Engineering Manager, you will…

Build and lead the Store Edge Compute engineering team recruit, develop, and retain engineers who own the full stack of device connectivity, from firmware integration and edge protocol handling to cloud-side ingestion and fleet management across 16,000+ stores.

Define the Store Edge Compute platform strategy make the architectural calls on how we onboard, monitor, and manage thousands of connected devices per store, balancing reliability, security, and cost within the resource constraints of the retail edge.

Drive measurable business outcomes through connected equipment deliver predictive maintenance capabilities, real-time equipment health dashboards, and automated alerting that reduce downtime, cut service call costs, and keep stores operating at full capacity during peak hours.
