Manager, Business Growth & Retention
The Role
Upwise is a new Benefits Engagement Platform that provides a decision support capability to assist employees in choosing their benefits AND a benefits engagement capability to provide education, guidance, and reminders about benefits usage throughout the year. The goal of Upwise is to engage employees in their employer benefits by helping them to choose the right benefits and by helping them make the most of their benefits throughout the year. Benefits Engagement is a critical lever in overall employee engagement; yet 53% of employees report they are confused about their employer benefit options. Upwise is a revolutionary digital solution that addresses the issue of benefits literacy for employees and the issue of employee engagement for employers. It will enhance MetLife's overall value proposition to employers and create stickier relationships with them.
We seek a Manager of Business Growth & Retention to support the salesforce in their efforts to gain platform adoption. The Manager of Business Growth & Retention is passionate about our mission to educate and support employees as it relates to the selection and usage of their employer benefits. They are highly motivated by achieving quantitative sales goals and are relentless when it comes to achieving those goals. Where there are impediments, they develop solutions. Where help is needed with a sale, they develop targeted strategies to close the deal.
The Manager of Business Growth & Retention will report to the VP, Head of Product for Upwise, and will work closely with the multidisciplinary team tasked with bringing the product to market.
Key Responsibilities
• Tracking market trends and competitive landscape
• Developing strategies for competing against specific competitors in the market. Align closely with Account Executives and the vendor's wholesaling team to do this.
• Tracking pipeline opportunities and providing product support to sales teams to help them close sales
• Promoting product opportunities and delivering key updates in internal meetings with the field
• Participating in positioning/solutioning for integration with key third-party entities (BenAdmins, HCMs)
• Continuously updating sales messaging based on which messages are working and which are not
• Developing targeted sales training programs for customer facing MetLife personnel
• Working with the marketing team to develop customer retention strategies
• Supporting RFP responses
• Recommending and supporting collateral updates as the market develops and shifts
• Building and running a customer success capability to respond to customer inquiries and complaints
• Providing reporting & analytics for employer user base with support of the software vendor's implementation team
• Providing input on suggested Upwise features to Product Management for continuous evolution of the platform
Candidate Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in the group benefits industry
• Experience supporting sales with a new software product or working within a sales or marketing organization
• Excellent analytical skills to mine data to identify pockets of opportunity
• Experience helping to plan or execute sales campaigns
• Experience in creating/maintaining a sales pipeline and reporting out forecasts
• Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization to align and influence key stakeholders
• Highly motivated by achieving quantitative goals
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
• Undergraduate degree required
