Job Title: Distinguished Engineer - NetDevOps


Location: Hybrid/remote in Plano, TX, Mclean, VA, or Richmond, VA

Role Overview:

The Distinguished Engineer will be instrumental in shaping strategy and implementing best practices within our Network Transformation organization. Serving as a thought leader and technical expert, you will collaborate extensively with Cyber, Cloud, and Software Engineering teams to pioneer next-generation technology solutions. Your proficiency in areas such as Local Area Networks, Cloud Networks, BGP, SD-WAN, VxLAN, Wi-Fi, as well as software tools like Ansible and Python, will be crucial for success in this role.


Key Responsibilities:

Build awareness and drive adoption of modern technologies, advocating for engineering best practices and sharing insights on consumer benefits. Foster an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued, lending expertise while championing the ideas of others. Promote a culture of engineering excellence, encouraging reuse and innersourcing of solutions where possible. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders across the enterprise, influencing decision-making at all levels of the organization. Serve as a trusted advisor for specific technology domains, shaping use cases and implementations in a unified manner. Mentor internal talent and actively participate in recruiting efforts to strengthen Capital One's Tech talent pool.


Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree.


At least 7 years of software engineering or software development experience using DevOps tools such as Ansible, Terraform, etc.

 

At least 7 years of network engineering experience designing and implementing large multi-site networks.


At least 5 years of public cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure).


Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree.


10+ years of software engineering or software development experience.


7+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services (AWS, GCP, Azure).


3+ years of experience with IPv6 implementation in the Cloud.
