What We’re Looking For:
This role leads a team of product management professionals responsible for 2U’s Learning Platforms. The Director of Product Management collaborates closely with senior leadership to operationalize the strategic vision and ensure alignment with the company’s overall vision and goals. Responsible for influencing company-wide strategy in a specific domain/theme for multiple teams/squads. This role also plays a critical role in leading, mentoring, and developing group product managers and other team members within their organization.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Collaborate with product and executive leadership to align product strategies with overall company goals.
- Lead team execution against strategy and roadmap. Proactively identify important problems and solutions with impact on longer term strategic objectives.
- Track product performance, using data to identify areas of improvement to meet business objectives.
- Oversee and manage the entire product lifecycle across multiple product lines or an entire product portfolio.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities and threats.
- Plan, execute, and evaluate complex assignments where results and decisions impact multiple functions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support, to ensure successful product development and launch.
- Allocate resources and budgets across their product teams, ensuring efficient use of funds and personnel.
- Act as a spokesperson for the product team, fostering positive relationships with customers, partners, and industry influencers.
- Monitor key performance indicators and financial metrics related to product performance.
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and market dynamics.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
Management Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and support to team members
- Supervises assigned staff, makes hiring recommendations, trains, provides work direction, problem-solving assistance and oversees the daily operations of the team.
- Manages staff, scheduling, assigns work, makes decisions related to salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.
- Manages others through subordinate supervisors.
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
- Requires 7+ years of experience in product management or related field , with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrable progress driving real outcomes for your customers and your business.
- Experience developing and progressing Product Management talent while advancing team’s work
- Empathy for our customers (both internal and external) and a relentless focus on improvement. You are customer obsessed - you continuously seek input and feedback from customers and solve their problems in ways that benefit the business.
- Experience partnering effectively with engineering, UX, data science and a broad set of stakeholders to develop and deliver on an outcome-oriented product strategy.
- A proven data informed and iterative approach. You craft audacious hypotheses, invest in experimentation and learning, and are comfortable and emboldened when there’s ambiguity. You leverage a combination of data and instinct to make fast and informed decisions.
- Able to create, own and execute on an outcomes-based roadmap. You're focused on outcomes not solutions, and you aren’t afraid to pivot quickly if something isn’t delivering the value you want.
- An action-driven mindset - you value progress over perfection.
- Strong cross-team collaboration skills, including alignment, conflict resolution, negotiation, and seasoned presentation skills.
- Proven experience inspiring, motivating, aligning and conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- A growth mindset - you value continuous improvement and learning to improve your skills and scale your impact.
While this position is open to remote candidates across the U.S., we will prioritize those who live in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area and who are available to come into our Headquarters in Arlington, VA two days a week.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is ($140,000-$150,000), with potential bonus eligibility. Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, budget for the position and cost of labor in the market in which the candidate will be hired.
