Director, Chief of Staff, Commercial Client Operations
The Chief of Staff role is a critical position supporting senior leadership, enabling leaders to execute strategic work while ensuring operational rigor. The Chief of Staff will act as a dedicated strategic partner to the Chief Operating Officer, as part of the Commercial Client Operations (CCO) leadership team and support to the broader organization.
Responsibilities:

  • Swiftly develop a deep understanding of the organization's strategy and vision so that you can lean into complex issues and influence as necessary
  • Partner with CCO leadership to create, socialize, and deliver our ambitious agenda
  • Build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders to understand processes and drive results to connect dots across multiple leaders to understand and aggregate impacts to the business
  • Work with key executives and partners to understand areas of need and build efficient and effective operational processes
  • Partner with communications and leadership to bring strategy to life for our associates, horizontal partners, and stakeholders across the Capital One enterprise
  • Collaborate and partner with people leadership to engage, empower and inspire associates
  • Lead associate engagement and recognition activities as well as other culture-focused initiatives
  • Ability to influence leaders, think creatively, participate fully and work collaboratively to develop and execute product strategies, solutions, and experiences
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in parallel and collaborate with all levels of the organization while working backwards from intended outcomes
  • Manage complex projects with extraordinary attention to detail, while balancing the needs of the organization, leaders, and associates
  • Ability to build strong, trusted relationships and operate in an influential manner with executives to assist in driving the strategic agenda


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of Project Management experience
  • At least 1 year of People Leadership experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience with commercial or wholesale banking organizations

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Charlotte, NC: $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Chief of Staff
McLean, VA: $226,000 - $257,900 for Director, Chief of Staff
Plano, TX: $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Chief of Staff
Richmond, VA: $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Chief of Staff
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
