Creative Director, Shark Beauty – Art

Location: New York, NY or Needham, MA on site 3x a week
Department: Creative
Reports to:  VP Creative, Shark Beauty

Shark Beauty is seeking a Creative Director – Art to define and elevate the visual expression of one of the fastest-growing beauty brands in the world. In this senior leadership role, you will own the art direction and creative execution that brings Shark Beauty to life across campaigns, launches, and cultural moments.

You will lead a high-performing team of Associate Creative Directors, designers, and art directors, shaping a distinctive, premium visual language that spans brand storytelling, product launches, content, and commerce. From concept through craft, you’ll ensure Shark Beauty’s creative work is modern, culturally relevant, and unmistakably bold—balancing high-impact storytelling with performance-driven execution.

This role is for a hands-on creative leader with exceptional taste, a strong point of view, and the ability to operate at both the brand and executional level. You’ll partner closely with product, marketing, social, IMC, and innovation teams, influencing how products are designed, launched, and experienced—while confidently presenting and selling work to executive leadership.

Does This Sound Like You?

You’re a Creative Director with a deep love of art direction, design systems, and visual storytelling. You know how to build a brand world—from defining the big idea to perfecting the details that make it iconic. You have strong aesthetic instincts and a refined eye for beauty, fashion, culture, and design.

You thrive in fast-moving environments and are energized by ambiguity. You don’t wait for the perfect brief—you help shape it. You iterate quickly, push ideas forward, and know how to evolve work without losing the creative soul.

You think social-first and culture-forward, understanding how visual ideas live across platforms, creators, and communities. You know how to stop the scroll, create desire, and turn products into objects of obsession.

Most importantly, you’re a people leader. You inspire and mentor creative talent, set a high bar for craft, and know how to challenge teams while creating an environment where great work thrives. You don’t just make beautiful work—you help others grow into exceptional creatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the art direction and visual creative vision for Shark Beauty across brand campaigns, product launches, and channels
  • Inspire, mentor, and manage a team of Associate Creative Directors, designers, and art directors
  • Drive concept development and execution across brand, social, digital, experiential, OTT, retail, Amazon, and DTC
  • Define and evolve Shark Beauty’s visual identity, ensuring consistency and excellence across all touchpoints
  • Partner closely with product development, innovation, brand strategy, marketing, IMC, social, and consumer insights teams
  • Influence product storytelling, packaging, and launch expressions from early concept through market release
  • Present creative work to senior and executive leadership, clearly articulating creative rationale and business impact
  • Oversee creative direction for global launches and ensure regional alignment while maintaining brand integrity
  • Champion a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and continuous creative improvement
  • Balance big-picture brand thinking with hands-on creative leadership and executional excellence
  • Stay current on trends in beauty, fashion, design, technology, and culture to keep Shark Beauty creatively ahead

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in creative leadership, art direction, or design at a top agency or consumer brand
  • A portfolio showcasing exceptional art direction, design systems, and visually distinctive brand work
  • Proven experience building premium, culture-led brands that drive both desire and performance
  • Strong leadership experience managing and developing creative teams
  • Mastery of design tools including Figma, InDesign, Photoshop
  • Experience leading global campaigns and adapting creative for regional markets
  • Confidence presenting to senior leaders and advocating for bold, elevated creative work
