As a Senior Software Engineer supporting HQARS, the candidate will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and maintenance of COBOL-based financial applications running on Unisys mainframes. They will apply advanced software engineering principles to optimize system performance, ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies (DoD 8140.03), and deliver high-quality solutions per DFAS financial and accounting system requirements. The candidate will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), with a focus on requirements analysis, system evaluation, testing, and acceptance (IV&V and DT&E). They will work in a collaborative Agile environment, ensuring adherence to CMMI practices, and be responsible for technical documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication. Additionally, the candidate may serve as a Task Leader, overseeing project execution and ensuring service quality.
