The Opportunity
The Assistant Vice President of Financial and Corporate Communications is a highly skilled communicator who can partner with teammates and stakeholders to help deliver a financial communications strategy, including communicating the company's quarterly earnings and work with Investor Relations to position MetLife and its financial results. Communicating MetLife's shareholder value proposition clearly and definitively for key stakeholder groups, including the company's current and potential shareholders will be a key part of the role. This person will report to the Head of Financial and Investment Communications and be an integral member of the team that tends to the communications needs of the "Inc." part of MetLife.
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future:
• Partner with the Head of Financial and Investment Communications to lead all communications needs facing MetLife, Inc., both proactively and reactively.
• Manage communications of MetLife quarterly earnings, including earnings news release, CFO Financial Update video and materials for the analyst and investor audience
• Craft messages that inspire and support development of CEO communications, including MetLife's annual shareholder letter and external communications programs.
• Cultivate strong relationships, providing counsel and influence to business leaders
• Develop and execute all media and other external communications conducted by MetLife CFO and broader finance organization
• Understand the drivers of value in the business and be able to explain MetLife's competitive advantages in a clear and compelling way
• Produce the daily media intelligence report for MetLife's senior leaders
• Develop & execute crisis communications strategies, safeguarding our integrity and reputation
• Identify and implement innovative technologies and process improvements that empower communication across our complex organization.
• Serve as a bridge between MetLife's Financial Management and Investments functions, while providing communications advice and execution
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications):
• 12+ years of experience in communications
• Financial services industry experience
• Financial acumen, including a basic understanding of financial concepts
• Experience developing and executing large communications programs
• An analytical eye, and a keen attention to detail
• Experience with positioning executives and businesses with key external audiences
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Demonstrable experience of delivering impactful results for high-profile clients and campaigns
Salary Range: The wage range for applicants for this position is between $157,800 and $210,400.
